Sorry if this is gross but I’m losing my final nerve. I started my new job a few months ago and almost everything was perfect – friendly colleagues, chill manager, easy job.
This was a big change from my previously conflict-prone environments and I was so glad to have less stress in my life… until…
One morning I come to work to hear from clients that someone “dropped of kids at the pool” on the toilet floor and walls (both 1 and 2).
Thankfully for me, it wasn’t my job to clean it but I felt bad for the cleaning staff.
This happened twice every week so since I’m a self-appointed little detective, I set myself up for the task of finding out the culprit.
I kept track of the people who were in the building at the time and cross referenced it with the days that we found “stuff” on the floors.
I managed to eventually narrow it down to two people. Twins, 18 year old boys, let’s call them L & C.
We blocked them for a month but as you’re legally not allowed to put cameras in bathrooms/or point at them, we didn’t have “concrete” proof that it was them. So we had to unblock them.
In my opinion them being the only ones in the building at the time “stuff” was left on the floor is proof enough, but apparently it’s not to the head office which handles the bans.
So after a month we let them in and on New Year’s Day we got two new deposits left on our toilet floors.
I was so done with them, I decided to hunt them down. Using a part of their email (I don’t have access to more info than their first name and email) I scanned the internet and found:
– their parents
– their social media accounts
– their previous employers
– which school they went to
– where they were born
– what field their work was in
Filled with petty revenge I devised this message that I could send from an anonymous account which said something along the lines of:
I know all this stuff about you, you’re not as sneaky as you think you are and if you don’t stop “depositing” (add colourful language for extra umph), I will let your parents and the rest of the internet know what you two are up to.
I let my colleague and husband read it and they both looked at me like I scared them…
Mind, I’m usually very sweet and “wouldn’t hurt a fly” type (I actually do avoid hurting flies lol)
I guess maybe it read like BM and maybe I’m breaching some kind of privacy laws and company policies by tracking them down… I don’t know.
But I’m of the mindset that the crime far outweighs the potential punishment. I’m frustrated because I don’t feel like they should get away with something as disgusting as this (apparently it’s a TikTok trend – no videos of them doing it sadly).
Company won’t do anything unless we can literally catch them walking out of the toilet when they did it (which they’re careful not to do) and it’s not feasible for me to stand there the whole day. Also it would be creepy for other clients.
So would I be TA if I exposed the dump depositors to the world?
If my way of doing it isn’t good, please comment with ideas. I’d love to read them even if I don’t end up doing anything.
