I’ve been having what I think is a bizarre argument with my bf.

It’s come up multiple times in our relationship over the years, and popped up again this morning. My bf has, too often for my liking, asked to wear my clothes and become angry and insulting when I said no.

On a few occasions, he has lost or destroyed my things, and never apologizes, offers to replace them, or even acknowledges that he’s done anything wrong. A few examples: I had a pair of pajama pants that were very old and worn, but I loved them and wore them often.

I’d had them since college, and am now in my 40s. They were unmistakably women’s pajama pants. They were baby blue with pink stripes and had Eyeore on a back pocket. He asked to wear them one day and I told him no. I later went into the living room to find him lounging in them.

I asked him to take them off and he refused. Later that day, he flopped his legs open and the crotch tore completely open, because they didn’t fit him properly. Again, they were LADIES pants on a grown man.

He acted like I was silly for getting upset. It was less the pants, honestly, and more that I felt very violated by the whole thing. He also started wearing a hoodie I had. It was band merch from a show I’d gone to years ago. It’s not made anymore. I asked him to please be careful with it.

He said he needed it because he’d just lost his own hoodie. Well, he lost mine, too. No apology. No offer to pay me for it or ask around fan pages for a replacement. He actually asked, “How do you know I lost it? Maybe you lost it.”

He’d been wearing it daily. He wore it to work and it never came home. I’ve bought him his own hoodies over the years and he’s lost them all, so I’m reluctant to lend him mine. He also is kind of a slob and always spills food on his clothes. I don’t want my things ruined. This morning, we got into it again.

He got me a very nice heated coat for Christmas. I had to exchange for sizing and I just got it back in the mail. I’ve worn it one time. This morning, he asked me if he could wear it to shovel snow. Again, this is a LADIES coat. He’s a few pounds heavier than usual after a snowier than usual winter and laying around a lot.
