Background:
I live in a flat and have 2 immediate neighbours. Let’s say they’re Flat 1, I am Flat 2 and my other neighbour is Flat 3.
Flat 3 is usually always here for their deliveries, and if they ever are not, they will ask me in advance (if I am in). If they happen to miss it, I take their package, and they immediately collect it as soon as they get back. If I am not in but have accepted the package, they leave a note to say they are in or that they will try again at “X” time because they need to pop out.
Flat 1 has a tendency to order things and then disappear for days. Sometimes they will return home, know I am in, and not collect their parcel.
These can be massive boxes, small items, or just plain inconvenient to store because they need to be refrigerated.
Either way, the longest period I have stored something for them was a week or two. I eventually left it on their doorstep and knocked because I heard one of them on a phone call inside.
I also need to add that they have an aggressive dog inside that flat. It has tried to lunge at me on multiple occasions when I was exiting the block, outside walking to my car, and heading to my door.
It barks non-stop. Sometimes they have 3 dogs inside all doing the same.
Context:
I just had a knock at my door and saw a delivery driver trying to hand me a package, no words.
I looked at the packaging and saw it was covered in paw prints.
Confused, I said “That’s not mine”. It was at this point he said that Flat 1 were not in and asked if I could take the package in. I told him “No, sorry. They never collect their packages and I am not comfortable bringing it to them later”.
The delivery driver asked again and said he couldn’t leave it because it needs signing for. Again, I said “Sorry, I am not signing for it because it’s not my responsibility”.
He asked a third time and said he could potentially post it if I sign.
Flat 1 has a doorbell camera. I heard a voice coming through the mic and I told the driver to speak with them, closing the door.
From what I heard, the driver could not leave it unless they had a physical signature.
In my mind, they knew the package was coming today because the delivery company sends an email and texts with your time-slot.
I try to be neighbourly, but I am so fed up of them repeatedly ordering things and making it out to be my problem.
