AITAH for not getting any gifts for my fiance during the year and waiting til black Friday to buy a gift?

My (37F) fiance (40M) stated/asked for a PS5 as a gift, not specifying for which holiday, but in implying christmas . We celebrate Vday, father’s/mother’s day, birthdays, sweetest day and Xmas. This request came around/after christmas 2025. I told him we can make a deal. We skip all the gifts throughout the year and i would get him a PS5. I let him know black Friday would be the cheapest to get everything and most cost effective. He agreed excitedly.

He knows I am very frugal, and save where ever I can. I am the bread winner of our family. I pay all the bills with my income, supplementing where I can by donating plasma, insta cart or selling items online, My two teen boys live with us, one of them being ours. His daughter 18, is in the same town and we help as asked.

A comment was made about money last week and me missing plasma stating ” we really need the money”. This is important for the next part.

As vday came, I did not do anything in return for gifts from him, but did help my sons get gifts for their gfs and got all 3 guys hair cuts. I got my 2 nieces and soon to be step daughter gift bags made with dollar tree items and his daughter a large 4 ft teddy bear ($40). We mentioned the deal again about the ps5 in a short convo I believe Sunday. I stated i was thinking of even getting accessories (game, controllers etc.) for each holiday building up to the PS5 later but we can’t really afford that right now.

Yesterday, we were at the store and we were window shopping at walmart, just leaving the clearance section. We walked past the electronic section, initiating the topic of the PS5 again. I said during black Friday they have deals that come with controllers and games.

He got quiet and made the comment that he has to wait til next year for his gift. I said no, only 10 months. He barely spoke to me the rest of the day. But I over heard him asking his daughter. How would you feel if you didn’t get any gifts all year and they said you had to wait til black Friday.

I feel like that is out of context. A PS5 is $500 alone, not including the games and additional items you can purchase. But also he agreed to the terms. He could have declined saying he would like gifts during the year and not 1 large gift. He also told he that he hasn’t gotten anything for last sweetest day (trip out of town, a watch and jewelery box) Xmas (fish tank, fish, decor supplies and 2 canvasof his kids plus smaller gifts), which isn’t true and she was there for.

My thoughts are, if you just said “we really need the money”, last week. Where do you think PS5 money would be coming from? I am pay check to pay check, we barely make ends meet. If I did have extra money, personally. I would pay for our sons football camps for his future. Not a PS5. Our son is a high school jr ranked 448 with in the top 500 of our state.
